Audie J. de Castro, was sworn in as the Philippine Honorary Consul for San Diego on July 30, 2014 at Malacanan Palace. The responsibilities include promoting Philippine diplomacy, trade, and tourism, providing consular services, and promoting the interests of the Filipino-American community in San Diego. Mr. de Castro is a corporate lawyer and founded de Castro, PC, a full service business law firm in downtown San Diego. He received his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law, graduating with cum laude honors. Prior to that, he was a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. de Castro has served in various leadership roles within the San Diego community. He is currently on the Board of Governors for the San Diego Foundation, a non-profit foundation with approximately $700 million in assets. Mr. de Castro has also served as Past-Chair of the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce, and Past-President of the Asian Business Association. He has received numerous political appointments from the San Diego Mayor and City Council, and he has various community service awards, including the Asian Heritage Awards in Legal Affairs and Excellence in Civic Leadership from the Asian Pacific American Coalition.
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Mr. de Castro is a proud dual citizen of the Philippines and the United States. He is married to Thelma Virata de Castro, a local playwright. They have two boys, Carlos and Enrique.
