BARBARA BRY: Innovator/Investor Bry and Alliant President Cox
To Join Supervisor Dave Roberts at Make It In America

Barbara Bry, recently appointed to the National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Geoff Cox, president of Alliant International University, will join San Diego County Supervisor Dave Roberts in opening the Make It In America conference Wednesday Nov. 19 at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido.  The conference begins at 9 a.m.

The four-day conference, from Wednesday Nov. 19 to Saturday Nov. 22, will spotlight the San Diego region as one of the nation’s top hubs for innovation while focusing on developments in technologies such as robotics and related  topics such as starting or relocating a business and securing overseas investments.  Other discussions will focus on the use of video games in health and education, tackling disasters and epidemics, how to make a good idea pay off , what media and marketing tools are working, practical green technology and alternative energies, female management in the 21st century and how to reinvent yourself in the wake of layoffs  or jobs going overseas. Steve Hsia, director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, in Los Angeles, will discuss ways both countries can collaborate economically and culturally 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19

Bry, COO of Blackbird Ventures in La Jolla, was appointed to the special council by U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker.  Referring to the council, Bry said, "They look like an amazing, diverse group from all over the country: from universities, from the venture community, from workforce development. I think they’ve actually played a role in having a meaningful national conversation about innovation, and I think it’s because of the people involved."
